»highTower«

Automatic vertical lift module

The tool comes to you

The ZOLLER »highTower« is an automatic vertical lift module for tools, tool components and operating resources. At the push of a button, it brings the right tray to the access opening – at an ergonomic working height.

The trays are stored in two columns at the front and rear of the unit. An extractor in the middle retrieves the requested tray, presents it and then returns it to a free storage location. No more searching or walking – your tools stay clean, secure and organized.

A sensor measures the height on every tray – each tray gets exactly the space it needs

How many trays fit into your »highTower«?

That depends on two things: the height of the unit and the height of your tools. Set both – the calculator instantly shows roughly how many trays and tool positions you get.

How the calculator works
  1. The »highTower« stores the trays in two columns, front and rear. The base (150 mm) at the bottom and the head with the drive (500 mm) at the top are deducted from the unit height; in the front column, so is the access opening at a working height of 900 mm, including the lintel.
  2. Tray spacing = tray (55 mm) + tool height + 20 mm clearance, rounded up to the 25 mm storage location grid.
  3. Tool positions per tray: grid of the ZOLLER tool inserts (72 mm; 95 mm for HSK-A100 and SK 50) or tool diameter + 10 mm, with a 40 mm margin – at most as many tools as the 555 kg payload allows.
  4. Footprint from the unit dimensions: width = tray width + 330 mm, depth = 2 × tray depth + 1,092 mm.
  5. The base, head and access opening are assumptions. ZOLLER plans mixed tool heights, inserts for special tools and multiple access openings with you in detail.

Part of your tool management

In ZOLLER TMS Tool Management Solutions, the »highTower« is intended as optional hardware for the add-ons »z.Stock« and »z.Resources«.

»z.Stock« shows stocks and storage locations in the 3D storage location management, makes availability and usage locations visible at all times and generates order proposals automatically. »z.Resources« organizes test equipment, gauges and fixtures centrally – matched to the component and the setup sheet.

In use at ZOLLER itself

At the headquarters of ZOLLER Inc. in Ann Arbor, Michigan, three vertical lift modules, each around 8 m (26 ft) tall, are in operation. They store large and heavy tools – smaller parts are kept in ZOLLER tool cabinets – and the spare parts that are shipped to customers every day.

The lift brings the tray with the right part directly to the employee. On shelves, the spare parts alone would need twice the floor space.
